Tag Error

I am a little OCD when it comes to music tags. I have to have the proper album art, title, artist, etc. embedded into the file. One thing that irritates me is popular markets such as iTunes and Xbox Music have the tags all messed up (this only applies to soundtracks).

Some albums that I purchased through online markets put Original Soundtrack as the artist, when it was really Hans Zimmer of Howard Shore. Don't even get me started on genres. I believe that genres are more insane and messed up than anything. Some of the hundreds of genres to classify what I simply put as Film Soundtracks are: modern classical, film score, score, soundtrack, epic soundtrack, etc.

Genres are very important to me because I like to have my music very organized. It is so much easier to find things this way.

What are your thoughts?

Soarin' Project Part 2

I am so close to completion on this! There are just a few tracks left that currently need acquired. Below is the complete tracklisting from the album. Some information is still incomplete, which is the reason some of these tracks are missing from my collection. My plan for this score is to emulate the experience of Soarin' by putting all of the line audio in the beginning before finally finishing it off with the music heard during the ride.

3. Prologue (From "Hook") - John Williams

32. End Titles (From "Emma") - Rachel Portman

33. Flight Through Never Land (From "") - Joel McNeely

33. Closing Credits (From "A Beautiful Mind") - James Horner

34. Soarin' (From "Four Parks: One World") - Jerry Goldsmith

With cover art all done, I am excited to share this final edition with you. These are the following tracks that are missing, as of this writing:

5. Main Title (From "The Musketeer") - David Arnold

Some of these tracks are difficult to find. Looking at the OST for Indecent Proposal, there is an instrumental suite, but it is clocked at 25 minutes! That is not what I am looking for. In the meantime, stay tuned for when this project is complete.

Soarin' Project Part 1

My latest project is in assembling a compilation of music that is heard in the ride Soarin'. The music that is heard during the ride is the only track that is specifically composed for this attraction. The rest (that which is heard while waiting in the lines) is music taken from films and TV shows such as Battlestar Galactica (the original show), Contact, Apollo 13, Dave, etc. More information is to come in Part 2.

This compilation is almost complete. A full track listing and download link will be live soon enough. In the meantime, take a look at the custom album cover that I created myself.

The Music Of Disney

I love the music from the Disney theme parks. It is a hobby in itself tracking down the albums. Most of the albums are rare and very hard to get. Some albums can cost you up to $300 because of its rarity. I am a serious collector of these CD's and records. This is my latest project, with a goal of having an exhaustive collection of music from the Disney Parks. Currently, I am mainly focusing on Disneyland and Walt Disney World, but soon plan to open up to the others from Paris and Tokyo. My latest addition to this collection is the soundtrack from the Main Street Electrical Parade.

More information coming soon. I will have to find another way to share this great music with you, so stay tuned!

4Shared

As you may have noticed, most of my posts here have blank squares where the embedded audio player used to be. I apologize. 4Shared removed my privileges to share music for some misunderstanding. They said that I was illegally sharing music when, in fact, they gave me the ability to share copyrighted music through the player. This is why they created it. I will no longer use their services.

Limited Edition

Are you into collecting special edition soundtracks?I have collected rare coins in the past, but have recently turned to soundtracks. I like collecting physical copies not only because they are increasing in value, but because I get the CD and the booklet. I will never have to worry about low quality music for that album.

I'm sure you have heard about the new Interstellar: Illuminated Star Projection Edition. People recently received their shipments of this special edition box set from MyPlay (http://www.myplaydirect.com/interstellar-soundtrack#) for $39.99. Obviously, some decided to purchase multiple copies at once. I was browsing eBay and encountered the following two listings:

Here is the first listing (LINK). As of this writing, the bids have raised the price to $61. This guy has almost doubled his money! Now take a look at the next listing.

This is one of the craziest things I have encountered on eBay (LINK). The seller purchased this
product for $39.99, but obviously, the buyers don't know that. This is insanity! Over 65 bids and this guy has made (exactly) 8.375 times the money he paid! Either the buyer just has some extra eBay/PayPal gift cards and cash laying around his house, he doesn't trust MyPlay, he wants a more reliable/faster delivery, or he is just insane...

In conclusion, I suggest that before you purchase and/or bid on something, look into it first.

VGM Contest

I have listened to lots of music in the soundtrack genre, and I have picked up different techniques. My fascination in film music has encouraged me to begin composing music myself. I recently entered a contest on Noteflight where I was required to compose a piece of music for a scene in an imaginary videogame for the chance to see it played live. I am very excited to see the lucky three winners, which of course I'm hoping one of them is me. What an experience! Winner or not, I will be watching the performance live. Around mid-January, when the winners will be selected, I will post the link here so that you can watch it as well, if you wish.
